-Must have demonstrated a broad range of design skills for antenna truss structures, lifting mechanisms, and antenna drive systems, also analytical skills including static, dynamic, thermal-elastic and gear analysis.
Familiarity with large RF disk antenna structures on elevation over azimuth mounts; aluminum welding standards and OSHA standards are a plus.

Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary: This position involves taking the lead mechanical role within development projects with exposure to all aspects of development from brainstorming to final delivery. You will be responsible for preparing specifications and architecture design, generation of concepts and layouts of systems in CAD, detailed design of components and products, preparation of technical reports, and introduction into volume production.

Responsibilities: -Use your strong analytical skills to understand client requirements and drivers, and foresee technical challenges.
-Work with the project manager to plan approaches to projects.
-Lead the definition of technical solutions, systems architectures and design solutions for product or system developments.
-Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust system solutions and products ready for manufacture.
-Manage internal and external resources to meet the design, build, test and manufacturing criteria.
-Apply your knowledge of the regulatory landscape to ensure standards-compliant design.
-Make individual contributions and manage tasks as part of an international multi-disciplinary product development team.
-Participate in meetings and presentations with team members and clients, communicating ideas and engineering concepts to all disciplines.

Minimum Requirements:
To meet the requirements of this role you should have an excellent undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and greater than 7 years practical experience in an engineering mechanical design environment with a proven track record of design leadership and technical authority. Commercial experience in medical device development such as diagnostic equipment or electrosurgical tools, is strongly preferred. A solid technical and practical knowledge base in the medical device sector is essential for this role, including both design and manufacturing aspects.

You will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills. You will have excellent team working skills along with the ability and enthusiasm to mentor less experienced staff. You will also have strong client-facing skills and must be willing to travel from time to time. You should be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Skill Set Requirements:
-CAD skills: proficiency with both Pro/E and SolidWorks a plus
-Multidisciplinary system design skills
-Product architecture and enclosure design, including electronics packaging, heat and power management
-Quantitative mechanical analyses, including tolerance and stress analyses
-Fluidics system design, including design of custom components
-Design of disposables and capital equipment for manufacture, test, cost and reliability
-Breadboard / Benchtop prototype development and integration
-Optomechanical design, mechatronics, robotics and automation integration experience is a plus

-Strong academic record (Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related engineering field, Master's degree is a plus)
