One of our best clients in Lexington, MA has an immediate long-term, on-site contract need for a Mechanical Designer. Applicant must be a US citizen and be eligible for a government Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
-Design and develop mechanical units and systems from rough sketches and/or verbal instructions from engineering staff.
-Perform basic design calculations, prepare design concepts, layouts, and finished manufacturing drawings specifying dimensional tolerances, surface finishes, and materials.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
-Minimum ten years experience in design, including a minimum of six years on CAD systems.
-Must have extensive knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques,and military standards.
-Must have broad experience with and knowledge of actuating mechanisms, precision gearing, sheet metal alloy fabricating design techniques (welding, dip brazing, oven brazing, and soldering), heat treatment processes, painting and plating finishing processes.
-Requires little or no supervision and performs assignments with creative ability, resourcefulness, and originality.
-Familiarity with ASME standards and established practices in aircraft, missile, spacecraft and ground support equipment.
-Should be capable of developing own concepts, design layouts, and basic calculations to support design concepts.
Desirable Skills:
-Experience on SolidWorks and/or PTC Creo Direct Modeling & Model Manager

The position involves upgrades and modifications to electrical cabling, cable handling equipment, cooling systems, structural supports, and electrical wiring and equipment enclosures. Candidate must be experienced with operation of machine tools such as drill presses, milling machines and lathes. Experience with CAD packages such as AutoCad, ProE or CoCreate is desired. Familiarity with high reliability electronic cabling and connector systems is required.

One of our top clients has an urgent long-term contract need for a Mechanical Designer with strong facilities experience. All work to be performed on- site at our client in the Bedford/Lexington area. Responsibilities:
-Implement basic designs developed by an engineer, prepare CAD working drawings, follow all applicable codes, select mechanical materials, layout systems, select equipment, layout ductwork and piping, prepare specifications, perform field investigations, coordinate work with other disciplines, make necessary calculations, review shop drawings, inspect field installations, and prepare cost estimates
Qualifications:
-Ten (10) years or more experience in the design and installation of in-plant heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, plumbing and process piping systems associated with research laboratories, clean rooms and office buildings is required.
-Applicant should have an Associates Degree in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a technical school or equivalent experience
-Should be familiar with the following: Constant and variable volume air systems, Steam and chilled water and hot water piping systems, Refrigeration piping and dx equipment, Plumbing, fire protection and process piping systems.
-Experience with piping systems handling gases such as nitrous oxide, hydrogen, ammonia, argon, helium, silane and oxygen
-Applicant must be familiar with the preparation of drawings via AutoCAD 2013.
Other Requirements:
-The applicant must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision; must have the ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with clients, engineers, and skilled tradesmen; Self-initiative is expected.
