One of our top clients in Lexington, MA has two new long-term contract openings for Electrical Designers--one is for a senior- level designer with ten-plus years of experience as a cable designer--the other opening is for a junior-level designer with 0-5 years of experience. All applicants MUST be US Citizens and be eligible to receive Secret Security Clearances. All work is on-site
RESPONSIBILITIES - Produce full documentation of various system interconnect (cable and harness) designs based on rough sketches and/or verbal instructions from staff. - Develop logic diagrams, schematics, design layouts, and basic calculations to support design concepts. - Produce finished manufacturing documentation consisting of block diagrams, schematics, cable drawings (including connector selection), and wire diagrams (including wire types/sizes and wire run lists). - Prepare engineering release and change documentation, as well as assist responsible engineer in producing fabrication orders. - Support the entire fabrication and assembly process, as required.
REQUIREMENTS: -Must have extensive (working knowledge for Junior Designer) knowledge of cables/harnesses, electro-mechanical packaging, electrical manufacturing and assembly methods, 3D & 2D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, PDM (Product Data Management) software, drafting practices, and ASME and IEEE standards. -A minimum of ten (10) years experience as a cable designer, including a minimum of six (6) years experience on CAD, PDM, and schematic capture software. (for Junior Designer job, 0-5 years of experience is fine) -Experience on SolidWorks Electrical and/or PTC Creo Elements/Direct Drafting & Model Manager. -Familiarity with ASME/IEEE standards and established practices in aircraft, missile, spacecraft and ground support equipment. -Should be capable of developing own concepts, design layouts, and basic calculations to support design concepts. Must have good communication skills, require little or no supervision, and possess good creative skills.

One of our top clients has an urgent long- term contract need for an Electrical Designer with strong facilities experience. All work to be performed on-site in the Bedford/Lexington area.
Responsibilities:
-Follow applicable codes and standards while implementing electrical system designs and preparing working drawings and specifications under the supervision of an engineer -Select and size materials, fixtures and equipment (including conduit and wire) based upon performing necessary calculations and other design criteria and standards -Make field investigation to determine the nature of existing conditions, resolve design and implementation issues, verify satisfactory results, coordinate work with other disciplines, perform start-up, etc. -Prepare cost estimates based upon conceptual designs, final designs and other criteria -Prepare basic technical specification for equipment/material procurement and installation by a construction contractor -Review shop drawings submittals for compliance with the drawings and specification and recommending approval/disapproval by the engineer.
Qualifications:
-Must have experience with AutoCAD computerized drafting -Applicant should have an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from a technical school or equivalent experience -Ten years or more experience in the design and installation of in-plant facilities associated with research laboratories, clean rooms, computer rooms, and office buildings is required. -Should have experience working for a consulting engineering or architectural engineering firm or organization -Knowledge and experience with computer software applications (e.g. spreadsheets) is highly desirable -Applicant should be experienced with medium and low voltage power systems, lighting systems, preventative maintenance procedures, fire detection, suppression systems, security systems, and power monitoring system.

SUMMARY One of our longest standing clients has an urgent new need for an Electrical Designer with at least 10 years of experience in general electro-mechanical packaging and equipment design for high reliability or ruggedized applications. The Electrical Designer will design the electronics, cabling and mechanical subsystems for a robotic navigation and control payload that will be deployed on a military vehicle. This long-term contract opportunity is a full-time, on-site position at our client in the Bedford/Lexington area. Generous flex time is available!
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS -Candidate must be familiar with design techniques for ruggedizing electronics assemblies against shock, temperature and moisture. -Experience with CAD packages such as AutoCad or ProE is required. -Familiarity with high reliability electronic cabling and connector systems is required.
